Ron Cowley

Director

Ron is the Group Managing Director of Douglas Equipment a manufacture of Ground support equipment used in the movement of military and commercial aircraft throughout the world. Douglas is part of the 7600 strong Curtiss Wright Corporation who’s genealogy goes back to the early aviation pioneers of Orville and Wilbur Wright and Glen Curtiss. Innovation, creativity and training and development are a key elements of the Curtiss Wright business strategy for successes. Ron has over 35 years’ experience in Aerospace, Defence, Oil and Gas and Semi-Conductor industries and has been an advocate and active supporter of apprentice, youth training and employee development throughout his career.  

Ron was appointed as a Director in February 2012.

Stephen Beard

Director

Stephen Beard is the Lean Improvement Manager for Messier-Dowty Ltd Gloucester site responsible for change management, training, development and coaching of Lean Tools and Techniques.

Messier-Bugatti-Dowty is the world leader in aircraft landing gear and braking systems.   Company capabilities encompass the full life cycle of our products from design and manufacture to in-service support, repair and overahaul.   MBD is a partner to 33 leading commercial, milatary, business and regional air framers and supports more than 22,000 aircraft making over 35,000 landings every day.   The company employs 6,250 staff working in locations across Europe, North America and Asia.

Stephen was appointed as a Director in March 2012.

Paul Wilkinson

Director

Paul Wilkinson is the European HR Manager for Moog.  He is based at the Moog site in Tewkesbury and covers sites in Wolverhampton, Luton, Toulouse and Amsterdam.  He leads and manages the Moog HR team in the UK which involves setting the HR strategy and vision for the HR team and ensuring all his sites are set up for success from a people and organisational perspective.  

Paul was appointed as a Director in February 2012.

Sandra Hamon

Director

Sandra Hamon in the Vice President of L-3 Communications based in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.    L-3 Communications protects people worldwide from current and ever-evolving threats through market leading defence solutions.   They delivery innovative, proven technology in Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Force Protection and Information Assurance to governments and defence agencies.

Sandra was appointed as a Director in November 2011.

Graham Adlam

Director

Graham Adlam is the Quality Assurance Manager at Messier-Bugatti-Dowty/MRO.

Messier-Bugatti-Dowty/MRO is the European centre of excellence for the Maintenance & Repair of Airbus Single Aisle aircraft.  In addition MBD/MRO also maintain and repair other civil and military aircraft landing gear and associated hydraulic units.

Graham was appointed as a Director in November 2011. 

Chris Tanner

Director

Chris Tanner is the apprentice Training Officer at Delphi Diesel Systems Ltd.   Delphi UK's Stonehouse facility specialises in high-precision machining to sub-micton tolerances in addition to testing and assembly.   Products produced in the UK include diesel fuel injectors for light, medium and heavy duty applications.

Chris was appointed as a Director in 2008.

Stuart Earl

Director

Stuart Earl is Managing Director of Earl & Thompson Marketing Ltd based in Hucclecote, Gloucester.   Earl & Thompson Marketing are an integrated marketing agency  who work with a range of clients from different sectors including IT, health, construction, manufacturing, retail, finance and the public sector.   The organisation has been established for over 30 years and has been recognised as one of the top agencies outside of London for the last six years running.

Stuart has been a Director of GTG since 1993 and last served as Chairperson in 2008-09.

Jill Brearley

Vice Chair

Jill Brearley is the HR Manager at ABB Limited based in Stonehouse.   ABB is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact. ABB in the UK operates from more than 20 locations nationally and employs around 2,300 people. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 117,000 people.

Jill has been a Director of GTG since 1991 and and has assumed the role of Vice Chair for the 2011-12 training year .

Gwyn Jones

Chairperson

Gwyn Jones is the HR Manager for Renishaw plc based in New Mills, Wotton Under Edge.   Renishaw is a global company with core skills in measurement, motion control, spectroscopy and precision machning.   Their products are used for applications as diverse as machine tool automation, co-ordinate measurement, Raman spectroscopy, machine callibration, position feedback, CAD/CAM dentistry, stereostatic neurosurgery and medical diagnostics.

Gwyn has been a Director of GTG since 1990 and has assumed the role of Chairperson for the 2011-12 training year.
