Presentation Evening 2011

This year's annual presentation evening was held at Kingsholm Rugby Stadium on Friday 29 July at 7pm.

Over 250 guests including parents and employers attended the evening to mark the end of the off-the-job foundation satge of training for the first year apperntices, and their progress to their employers.

Apprentices who had completed the full framework were issued with apprenticeship certificates as they take up professional careers as qualified electrical or mechanical engineers.

The evening was well attended by a variety of engineering employers, all of whom have long standing working relationships with GTG.   Chief Executive, Linsey Temple used the opportunity to reassure both parents and apprentices that choosing engineering as a future career was definitely a good decision.   She emphasized that the growth in apprentice numbers during the 2010-2011 intake and the predicted growth for 2011-2012 was really encouraging and a sure sign that the industry is recovering from the effects of the recession.   This was echoed by their guest speaker, Mr Mike Doane from Douglas Equipment Ltd, who shared his experiences in the sector and spoke of the recent developments within his organisation.   He commented on the exciting future that lay ahead of all the apprentices and said that if he had his time again, he wouldn’t change a thing.
